Cessnock Greens Councillor James Ryan is urging Cessnock Council to take action over the cessation of live music a the famous Great Northern Trading Post (previously known as the Laguna Wine Bar).
‘This venue is an important meeting place for locals and visitors in the Wollombi Valley.’ said Clr Ryan.
‘It is also a vibrant part of the arts and entertainment culture which thrives in Wollombi Valley.’
‘I understand that issues of noise have been raised with the venue. I respect neighbours rights however I am also highly concerned that an important and historic venue, which provides a great social benefit is not forced to close because it stages live music on a couple of occasions per week.’
‘I have requested that Cessnock City Council invite the Local Area Command (Police) and the Office of Liquor Gaming and Racing to a Cessnock Council meeting so they explain the situation and in turn hear from the elected representatives of the local community.’
