Cessnock councillor named on Greens Senate ticket
- James Ryan
Cessnock councillor James Ryan has been named on the Greens NSW Senate team for the September 7 federal election.
A solicitor and firefighter, Mr. Ryan has been a fierce campaigner for protecting bushland and threatened species in the Hunter Valley from over-development.
He is also passionate about local government, recognising it does much of the heavy lifting in local communities.
Lead candidate Cate Faehrmann said she was delighted to be part of a diverse team of candidates bringing a wealth of experience and skills to the campaign.
“With NSW being such a critical battleground in this election, our team will be sending the message that a vote for the Greens is a vote to stop Tony Abbott and the far Right controlling the Parliament,” she said.
The Greens NSW Senate team also comprises cotton farmer Penny Blatchford, university lecturer Christina Ho, Shoalhaven councillor Amanda Findley, and Australian Greens co-convener Ben Spies-Butcher.
