Make a Submission to protect Gardens of Stone area
On Sunday I was in the Blue Mountains and travelled through Cullen Bullen and Lithgow. It was a bleak day and the backdrop of the Wallerwarang Power Station emphasised that bleakness. In contrast to the inspirational natural beauty of the area there is a planned expansion of open cut & highwall coal mining. The area proposed to be mined forms the gateway to the Gardens of Stone conservation area for which conservationists have been lobbying for years.
This beautiful area deserves protection. Not only do we need to move away from coal to renewable energy, we have to protect our wildlife and wildplaces.
There is still time to make a submission against the expansion of open cut coal mining in this area. Please go the the Blue Mountains Conservaiton Society webpage here to make a submission by June 1st 2012.
